Galentine’s Day 2021
It’s that time of the year again, Galentine’s Day. COVID has made it tougher than ever to find a Valentine this year, at least that’s my excuse. Skip the stress of Valentine’s Day and host a Galentine’s Day on February 13th, instead. Sounds the same, but instead of focusing on significant others, you focus on your fav girl besties.
This holiday first began on the TV show “Parks and Recreation”. Leslie Knope hosts an annual Galentine’s Day celebration for her best friends. They give each other gifts and eat breakfast together as a symbol of their friendship and love for each other. Since the show aired in 2010, Galentine’s has become an official holiday, celebrated the day before Valentine’s Day. It is meant to celebrate your closest friends, no matter if they are single or taken.
If you are the gift-giver of the group, here are some ideas of what to get your friends this Galentine’s day.
- Matching PJs for a slumber party
- fluffy slippers
- comfy blankets
- Fuzzy socks
Want to stay home and relax, here are some self-care/pampering products that you need to take Galentine’s to the next level.
- Bath and body works candles
- Sleeping masks and hair scrunchies
- Jade face roller
- Nail care kit
- Essential oil diffuser
Looking for an activity with your besties, rent out a movie theater with all your Galentines and watch a rom-com. If you are looking for a more COVID safe option, put up a projector and some lawn chairs to stay six feet apart while watching your fav movie. Because of all the distancing and masks, maybe now they won’t see you ugly cry during the notebook this year.
A Galentine’s brunch is always a good option, but make sure to include waffles in your brunch in honor of the founder of Galentine’s Day. For other food inspiration, Pinterest has ample recipes, but beware, they all include puff pastry. A Galentine’s charcuterie board with varies cookies, croissants, chocolates, and pink/red fruits is always a great option.
Happy Galentine’s day!
