$10 a Day in Memphis
March 1, 2019
Here are some fun ideas on how to spend your day in Memphis for only $10!
#1: Head out east to Gibson’s Donuts for breakfast where you can get their famous glazed donut for only $0.75. In fact, this place is so inexpensive that their most costly menu items – the eclair, apple fritter, or cinnamon roll – are only $1.60. However, we only have $10, so we’re just going to get one glazed donut, leaving us with $9.25 for the rest of the day!
#2: Next, check out the Midtown area and explore the eclectic shops in Overton Square. Make sure to check out Overton Park as well! However, at 11 am, make your way downtown to check out the elegant Peabody Hotel and see the famous Peabody ducks walk the red carpet into their swimming fountain. Explore this beautiful hotel and make sure to marvel at these royal ducks!
#3: For lunch, stay downtown and visit Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken. You can get a 2-piece white meat plate or a 3 wing plate for only $6. Not only does the plate come with their famous fried chicken, you also get a side of baked beans, cole slaw, and bread. A great deal with plenty of food!
#4: After this delicious meal, check out Big River Crossing and walk, bike, or scooter your way across the Mississippi River into Arkansas.
#5: Finally, for dinner, make your way to any of the four Memphis Pizza Cafe locations and get a slice of Ultimate Cheese pizza for your final $3.25.
