No Way Home Hype

“With great power, comes great responsibility.” This famous line has been used in 2 different Spider-Man movies, most importantly with different multiverses. Spider-Man: No Way Home opened a world of new possibilities and created a major turning point for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sophomore Rebecca Burnett went to see the movie with her basketball team and said, “Watching the movie was a great experience, and I’m not surprised that it has already made a lot of money.” The movie received an enormous amount of revenue, already passing Titanic’s record at the box office. It has become the first billion-dollar grossing movie since 2019, shattering the previous records of movies made during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is ranked as the sixth highest grossing film, with a 1.5 billion dollar profit at the international box office. After many successful movies created by Marvel, the large amount of profit was expected for Spider-Man: No Way Home, and it has received the most amount of money out of all previous Spider-Man movies produced.

Sophomore Garner Smythe said, “It made me cry three times. It was amazing and I would definitely watch it again.” The excitement for Spider-Man: No Way Home was unmatched compared to movies made in the pandemic. There were millions of Instagram posts, TikTox, and Tweets made about people’s predictions for the movie and how they expected a life-changing viewing experience. The movie did not disappoint, and the amount of media made after the movie was allowed in theaters was very surprising for many Marvel fans. Some people’s entire explore pages were filled with Spider-Man content, and there was a sudden surge of new Marvel fans because of the success of the new movie.

“Spider-Man sucks. Sing 2 is so much better,” said sophomore Kaylan French. Although many people say that Spider-Man: No Way Home was one of the best movies they had seen, Sing 2 was also released at the same time. It did not receive as much attention as usual because it was released at the same time as this movie, which caused some anger among Sing fans.

“I absolutely adored Spider-Man: No Way Home. Spoiler alert: Seeing Andrew Garfield, Tom Holland, and Toby Maguire all in the same movie was super exciting. I cried multiple times,” said Atlanta citizen Aleesha Sheikh. After seeing all the Spider-Mans from each generation come together in her theater, the crowd cheered loudly and “it was like we were all one big community who have been waiting so many years just for this one moment.”
