Halloween is a widely celebrated holiday full of costumes and candy. This year, Halloween fell on a Friday, allowing for three fun nights of creative costumes. Here are some of the most popular costume trends of 2025.
The most popular costume this year was KPop Demon Hunters. According to USA Today, “Just over 50% of all U.S. metropolitan areas had Rumi from ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ as their top trending costume. Netflix’s hit TV show also took 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place with people dressing up as Zoey, Mira, Juno, and Baby Saja.” Chicken Jockey from the new Minecraft movie, Labubus, and Elphaba ranked 6th, 7th, and 8th place, respectively. Lastly, The Lorax and Hamilton were also very popular this year.
After asking the students at Hutchison, here are some of their favorite costumes from this past Halloween. Senior Molly Browne says, “My favorite costume was the duo costume Avery Webb and Collins Farmer did as Alabama Barker and Bhad Bhabie.” Collins Farmer ’26 said that this year she saw a lot of Labubus, especially in the lower school: “When I walked into the cafeteria, all I saw were Labubus; on the Hutchison Instagram, one class even had a Labubu jail.” For celebrities, the first-place spot goes to the queen of Halloween herself, Heidi Klum.
From E.T. to a worm, every year her Halloween costume is the most anticipated. This year, Heidi and her husband, Tom Kaulitz, fully transformed into a reptilian look of Medusa and a stone soldier. Although not in first place, the most iconic costume of 2025 was Demi Lovato as Poot Lovato, a reference to an iconic meme of hers.’
From Labubus to Poot Lovato, Halloween this year was full of creative and unique costumes. With new movies coming out next year like Scream 7, Star Wars, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Halloween next year will be filled with many creative costumes, just like it was this year.
